I'm completely new to this — where should I start?

Start with circadian lighting. It's the simplest change you can make to your home and the one most people feel first. Swap a globe in your bedroom or living room to a LUM8 Circadian Globe and you'll have lighting that shifts from energising daylight to sleep-supporting warmth — just by flicking your wall switch. Once that becomes part of your routine, the PEMF mats and red light panels are natural next steps for deeper recovery and sleep.

Are LUM8 products safe for all ages?

Yes — all LUM8 products are designed with the whole family in mind. Our circadian lights, reading lights and night lights are safe for children and widely used in family homes and kids' bedrooms. Our PEMF mats include a dedicated Kids Wind Down program (P8) designed for gentler frequencies and shorter sessions. For very young children or anyone with specific health conditions, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before use.

What is the difference between the RLP 200 MAX and RLP 300 MAX?

The main difference is size — and therefore coverage. The RLP 200 MAX is a targeted panel suited to specific areas of the body: a shoulder, your face, lower back, or knee. The RLP 300 MAX is a full-body panel designed for you to stand in front of and treat your whole body in a single session. Both panels use the same 8 wavelengths, the same dual-chip LEDs, and the same quality components — the 300 MAX simply gives you full-body coverage in one go.

What makes LUM8 circadian lights different from regular LED lights?

Standard LED lights emit a broad spectrum including blue wavelengths, which suppress melatonin and signal alertness to the brain — even at night. LUM8 circadian lights are designed to shift with your day, offering bright energising light in the morning and transitioning to warmer, red-heavy light in the evening to support your body's natural wind-down process.

What does "low EMF" mean?

EMF stands for Electromagnetic Field — a form of energy emitted by all electronic devices, including lights. High EMF output from lights used close to the body, especially in bedrooms, has raised questions around long-term health impacts and sleep quality. LUM8 circadian lights are engineered to minimise EMF output, making them well-suited for use in bedrooms and near sleeping children. It's one of several ways our lights are built differently to standard LED products.

How do I use the PEMF mats?

Simply lie on the mat and select your preferred program from the controller. Sessions typically run 20–40 minutes. The mat comes with a detailed guide, and all 12 programs are labelled with their intended purpose — from morning energy and focus through to evening wind-down and deep sleep induction. For best results, use daily.

What is PEMF therapy?

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy uses low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to support cellular energy and the body's natural repair processes. It's used widely in sports recovery and clinical settings. Our mats combine PEMF with infrared heat for a deeper, more effective session.

What wavelengths do the red light panels use?

Our RLP panels deliver 8 wavelengths: 630nm, 650nm, 660nm, 670nm, 810nm, 830nm, 850nm and 1060nm. The 1060nm near-infrared wavelength is rarely offered in consumer panels and provides reach into deeper tissue, joints and muscle.

Circadian Downlights

Do the circadian downlights require an electrician to install?

It depends on how your existing downlights are connected. Most modern Australian homes have a plug socket already mounted in the ceiling — the downlight simply connects to it, much like plugging something into a powerpoint on the wall. If that's the case in your home, swapping to the LUM8 Circadian Downlight is straightforward: pull the existing downlight out of the ceiling socket and connect the new one in its place. Many homeowners do this themselves in a few minutes.

If your existing downlights are directly hardwired (no plug socket), installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician — this is a legal requirement in Australia. Not sure which you have? Any electrician can quickly check and complete the swap if needed. The downlight is not suitable for NZ domestic installations.

How do I change the light mode on the downlights?

A quick flick of your wall switch advances the mode: Day → Late Afternoon → Evening → back to Day. "Quick flick" means switching the light off and back on within about a second or two. During normal use the light remembers its current mode — switching it off at night and on again in the morning won't change it. Only a deliberate quick flick cycles it forward. If you have multiple downlights on the same circuit, they all advance together.

My downlights are showing different colours — how do I fix this?

This happens occasionally when downlights get out of sync, usually after a power interruption or if lights on the same circuit have been switched at different times. The fix is simple: quickly flick your wall switch off and back on several times in quick succession. This resets all the downlights on that circuit back to Day Mode and brings them back into sync.

Can I use this with a dimmer switch?

No — this product needs a standard (non-dimming) wall switch. Dimmer circuits interfere with the light's internal circuitry and will stop it working correctly.

Warranty & Returns

What warranty do LUM8 products come with?

All LUM8 products come with a 1-year manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects. This is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

What is your returns policy?

We offer returns on faulty or damaged products in line with Australian Consumer Law. Please contact us at hello@lum8wellness.com within 14 days of receiving your order if you have any concerns.
